Grief is our natural response to loss.  The experience of grief is a deeply personal and can impact each person differently. At times grief may feel like waves, bringing surges of strong emotions to the surface, and at other times, feel like moments of quiet ripples.

Grief may arise not only from the death of a loved one but also following the loss of a pet, changes in family relationships, separation or divorce, relocation, significant life transitions, or the onset of illness.

At Luminescence Creative Counselling, I create a gentle holding space to feel, to share and to focus on what matters most.  I provide specialized Grief Counselling for Children & Teens | Grief Counselling for Parents | Grief Counselling for Adults

Sessions are available in-person in Calgary and Virtually across Alberta

Grief Therapy for Children & Teens

Children, just like adults grieve, but they show it differently.

Children and teens each experience grief in their own unique ways, and every young person copes with loss differently.

Grief may surface as big emotional outbursts, withdrawal, irritability, repetitive questions, or surges of worries.  The next moment, they may be completely engrossed in their play or activity.  As children grow, their grief also changes, and although this is very normal, these influxes of grief experiences can be confusing and overwhelming for both children and parents.

Grief & Loss Therapy offers a safe space for your child to explore their grief, to feel seen, heard and supported in their grief journey.   I use an integrative approach that incorporates children’s natural forms of communication – such as play, creative self-expression, movement, music, symbols, and metaphors – to help children and teens express what is on their mind and in their heart.
